Kevin,
Thanks for all of the work you do to help boat wiring novices like me.
Here’s my question:
I want to put the battery for my trolling motor in front of the boat, an eleven foot run. What size boat wiring should I run to the marine electrical bus, also eleven feet.
My battery is an EverStart, Deep Cycle Trolling with 600 cranking amps. It’s rated at 115 amp hours.
Thanks
Chuck
Hi Chuck,
On most marine electrical applications, you should consider these wiring sizes
- 24 Volt trolling motor – I would use 8 AWG.
- 12 Volt trolling motor – I would use 6 AWG.
Happy New Year,
Kevin
